Standing on the shoulders of giants | Roscommon Herald

A great moment for Castlerea St. Kevin’s perfectly captured last night as team manager Dara Bruen lifts aloft the Intermediate FC trophy, named after the Roscommon Legend and double All-Ireland winning captain Jimmy Murray. On the walls of the O’Rourke clubhouse in Castlerea behind Dara are photographs of other great GAA men. The club is named after former GAA President Dan O’Rourke whose large photograph sits on the wall. To the right of JP’s photograph is another great GAA stalwart, Phil Gannon who was a long serving secretary of Roscommon GAA County Board. This photograph taken last night of the Castlerea manager in the company of giants from the past looks perfectly framed as the West Roscommon side celebrate their first Intermediate championship title since 1987 after an epic game against Eire Og at Hyde Park.
